An exhibition of two Yekaterinburg artists “Informal conversation” takes place in Yekaterinburg gallery of modern art on July 3 at 6:00 p.m.
Igor Shurov and Nikolai Fedoreev represent Underground culture of the 1980s when there was acute social and esthetic reformation in Russia. They expressed their objection against ideology and hypocrisy in the arts through their artworks. The artists practised in their easel painting, graphics and sculpture the methods of poster art and the ways of decoration of industrial, public spaces.
Nikolai Fedoreev passed away 20 years ago, he influenced on the Ural underground art in Perestroika period and also he developed the principals of early Sots Art in Yekaterinburg. The years of friendship bound Igor Shurov and Nikolai Fedoreev.
The commemorative exhibition as if continues the artistic conversation of the two artists, who can present any object as art – whether iron wire, or tarpaulin boots, or an old tree and tools.
About 20 paintings and installations art works bring the atmosphere of artistic controversy of the two Underground artists.
