A talented landscape painter, gifted colorist. He studied at Shadrinsk Art School in 1970-74 under the tutelage of O.K. Lutskiy then he moved to Kamensk-Uralsky. Nikolay Gryaznikh was very impressed by the French postimpressionism. He was one of few artists, whose creativity did not depend on ideology. In the middle of 1970-th he tried to exhibit his works and was very criticized by local art critics. Having emotional and impulsive character, Nikolay Gryaznikh burnt most of his works on the backyard of the exhibition hall. Only few of them were saved by his wife. Actually they are kept in Urals museums, private collections and the artist’s family.
