Vaksman Valentiva Mikhaylovna

b. 1938
One of the best artists actually living in Tcheliabinsk, a talented teacher. She graduated from Yaroslavl art school in 1961, from Leningrad institute of panting, sculpture and architecture named after Ivan Repin (workshop of theatre and set design painting of professor A.I. Segal, E.E. Moiseenko, V.A. Valtsev, A.I. Sokolov). Valentina Vaksman studied in the group together with German Metelev (1938-2006), one the most famous Ekaterinburg artists. She is a member of the Union of artists since 1974. She worked in the opera theatre named after M.I. Glinka, cooperated with drama theaters – for more than 9 years she created beautiful set design and costumes for classic and modern performances. The most known was the series of costumes for the performance “Mummy Courage” by Bertold Brecht that was realized together with the director Maria Lvovna Zhilitskaya in Shadrinsk drama theatre. This series was rewarded with the diploma of the Ministry of culture of USSR (1975). Actually it is kept in the famous State theatre museum named after Bakhrushin in Moscow. Since 1979 Valentina Vaksman has been teaching painting, drawing and composition in Tcheliabinsk art school. Her works are presented in many state and private collections.
